The multi-purpose room, on the SRYC, is constructed for L'Ecole Roche Solide school assemblies and theatrical productions.
The hall may also be rented, for public or private parties, community meeting and other social events, making it self-sustaining.
Bishop Roy Dixon Multi-purpose Room is a large event hall for school assemblies, theatrical productions and Solid Rock Youth Complex and community interactions. The hall may also be rented, for public or private parties, community meeting and other social events, to make the hall self-sustaining.
Roy Dixon was born in Toomsboro, Georgia. As a young man, he was always very active in the church and received many accolades both in church and school for public speaking and demonstrating acting talents. As an Elder, in the Church of God of in Christ, he answered God’s call to the ministry and was ordained by the late Bishop S.M. Crouch. At the same time he was ordained, he was assigned to pastor Val Verde Church in the Saugus-Newhall area.
During the mid 1960’s Entrepreneur Dixon owned and operated a number of Dixon-Burger Restaurants. A serious accident and extended recuperation caused the demise of the chain. He then began working for the Taco Bell Corporation in increasingly responsible positions. When he was transferred to San Diego, he served as Area Trainer and Area Manager.
In 1985, Pastor Dixon was led to establish a church; in December of that year, twenty people met. Faith Chapel grew from the initial twenty members to approximately 1,000 members, with a charter school and activities which have helped to revitalize the surrounding community. As his responsibilities increased, he resigned from the pastorate to devote himself to the rigorous schedule of Bishop.
His untiring commitment to encourage and lead activities for the benefit of disenfranchised people has propelled him to the position of bishop and a source of inspiration for many in the church and from out. His support for the Solid Rock Youth Complex morally and financially has been invaluable.
Bishop Dixon has been married for over 50 years to Starrie Dixon. They are the parents of three adult children—Royce, Rhonda and Dominic.
Bishop Dixon truly believes that God blesses us to be a blessing to others.
